Ksiądz Oko i stan duchowy Kościoła w Polsce

Po przeczytaniu artykułu w Wyborczej.

Z ulga przeczytałem powyższy artykuł. Z jednej strony potwierdził on moje obserwacje i niepokoje, które poniżej wyłuszczyłem. Z drugiej strony ucieszyłem się, że Kościół jako całość dostrzega problemy Kościołów lokalnych i czasami je nawet prostuje, a przynajmniej się do nich ustosunkowuje. 

Ksiądz Oko wyraża swoje prywatne zdanie. Sprzeczne z katechizmem i duchem chrześcijaństwa. Niestety. Zdarza się. Księża są tylko ludźmi. Miejmy nadzieję, że biskupi sprostują te opinie. Problem jest wtedy, gdy biskupi milcząco popierają takie opinie. Kościół jest naszą matką, ale ciężko patrzeć, jak oddala się od prawdy, nawet jeśli jest to tylko Kościół lokalny. Kościół dzisiejszy w Polsce jest znacznie słabszy duchowo niż był za "komuny". Na szczęście Kościół a Polsce nie jest sam. Dziękuję Panu Bogu za to. Wierzę, że i z tego kryzysu Kościół polski wyjdzie, czy może raczej powinienem powiedzieć - wyjdziemy. 

Czemu piszę, że jest słabszy teraz niż w czasie pewnych częściowych prześladowań a przynajmniej niedogodności, którym był poddany w okresie PRL-u? Wtedy musiał być może akceptować nielegalne źródła materiałów budowlanych, żeby wybudować kościół, jeśli już jakimś fuksem udało się uzyskać zgodę na jego budowę. Teraz mamy sprawy w moim odczuciu dużo poważniejsze. Jak choćby rewindykacja budynku w Poznaniu zajmowanego przez szkołę baletową (w dodatku - niekomercyjną). Tak jakby polskiemu kościołowi brakowało lokali. A w tym wypadku to już nie pojedynczy ksiądz, ale kuria.

Dobrze, że nawet wewnątrz polskiego Kościoła są głosy świadome i widzące problem, jak głos księdza Lemańskiego. Czemu jednak głosy te są uciszane?

Na koniec chciałbym wyjaśnić, na wypadek gdyby nie wynikało to z powyższych uwag. Ja też jestem katolikiem i wierzę, że nawet może - chrześcijaninem. Kościół jest też moja Matka

School Expenses Loan

For those who don't speak or read Polish, the sign I have seen today on a lantern post on one of the busiest Warsaw railway stations, says: Loans for School Expenses. You could think, well it must be about college loans. But no, in Polish we rarely use the word "school" to describe college. In this context, most Polish men, and especially women will think of a loan to cover expenses of grade school for their children.

I could stop right here. The rest is for you to understand, or ignore it. It just says something about the high cost of primary education in Poland.  Well, public education is free in Poland, obviously. But textbooks, for example, cost a lot, and they change every year, so you are lucky if you recover 10% by selling them at the end of the school year. To make it more interesting, starting this school year, there is a law that requires schools to provide textbooks. So they do, except these textbooks can't leave the school building. So, if your child wants to study at home, and how can you avoid this, you'll have to buy her textbooks anyway. Then, take extra English lessons, since most parents want their kids to take extra classes in English, in addition to the required foreign language curriculum (and it all starts in first grade). And there is more like classroom expenses fee, insurance (although optional) etc.

Life in Poland is expensive, especially raising children. However, this sign says also something else. It says, indirectly how strongly are Polish parents motivated to give their youngsters the best chance in their life, for better and for worst.

Ten drugi wyraz jest ciekawy. Chociaż jako dopełniacz od "buźka" jest całkiem logiczny.

Wild boars. We've got more company than we think.

I'm on a short walk. Short 3 min drive from our house. It's a forest. I tend to think of it as a city forest. Tend to think of it as mainly "inhabited" by joggers and Sunday walkers. And occasionally participants of some big "event in the forest" like for mountain bikers. 

It's true, it's an early hour. Around 6 am. But that doesn't change the fact that when I notice the animal moving across the path in front of me, I'm speechless.  The sheer size if the animal I've just saw amazes. A group of wild boars. The lightness with which it stealthily crossed the path ahead of me in a little trot! I turned into a little path in the same direction, walked a bit and waited. Nothing could be seen now, but it sounded like several somebodies where moving in the bushes ahead of me. Then, suddenly, I saw them. Mother, size of a big cow but on shorter stocky legs trotting away from me. Followed by a single young one, as big as a very fat dog except that it had almost without legs, so short they were. 

The conclusion that pushes itself to my mind.  We share our world, our forests, with many more beings than we usually see and think about.  

Skąd brać e-booki?

• Ściągać nielegalne? To nielegalne i nieetyczne.

• Kupować książkę w formie papierowej i skanować? 
• Koszt skanowania, i to ze zniszczeniem książki (odcięcie grzbietu), to w Polsce średnio ok 30 zł za 100 stron. A więc dużo. 
• W Stanach jest dużo mniej (np. firma 1dollarscan liczy sobie 2$ za skan kazdych zaczętych 100 stron wraz z OCR, a więc ok. 7 zł wg dzisiejszych kursów dollara). Niestety koszt przesylki ksiazki do Stanow powoduje nieoplacalnosc tej opcji.
• Najtańsza firma w Polsce, która do tej pory znalazłem to SkanZona.pl, która za skan 100 stron formatu A4 z OCR dla podmiotów nie prowadzących działalności gospodarczej liczy sobie tylko 22 zł..

Polish Railways and Their Child Passengers

The Story One

Four days ago I arrived to the station to catch the train home, as every week day.  The time came but the train hasn't.  A small crowd is waiting, like me and no one has any idea what's going on.  Finally, 10 minutes or so later, the speakers wake up: "Train to so and so scheduled to leave 5:33pm will be delayed 25 minutes".  While we wait, it becomes obvious that several other trains are late two,  And no explanation whatsoever why.

The crowd becomes a bit agitated and nervous "What's going on?"  No one knows.  I open my cellphone and start browsing the Polish Railway web pages for info.  Sorry, no such luck.  Long term line closures, sure.  Switch to a new line of train cars, sure.  But no info about what is going on right now here at the fourth largest railway station in our beautiful city of Warsaw. 

OK, I think, the phone information line would be more appropriate.  But, not the schedule information, nor ticket prices but info on this one railway station, Warsaw Gdanska.  No, such luck again.  The last resort.  Walk away from the platforms and the crowd of people each puzzled jus like and to the main station hall to the ticket windows.  There is no information window, but the second ticket seller has some answers.  

Finally!  The track west of Warsaw Gdanska is having trouble.  Hey, that explains everything.  Things happen.  Sure.  But the question.  Why hasn't this simple piece of information been announced to the passengers through the speakers?  Why are we treated as children? Aren't we adult passengers, most at least?

The Story Two

This story took place on the train, for a change.  Another day, I was riding the SKM train home (it was not the same day the above story took place; SKM is an acronym for Fast City Train).  I was a bit tired, but generally in a good mood.  However, at the Warsaw Torunska station, the train stopped and wouldn't go.  After 15 minutes or so I got restless.  Something is going on I thought.  Usually, the trains stops there for just a minute or two to take new passengers.  

 After 10 more minutes, I started thinking "What can I do?"  I considered calling the train engineer on the safety phone system that is in every car of the train.  But no, it's not really an emergency, or at least I don't know that it is. So, on my cellphone, I found a number for SKM info line and called it.  They answered promptly, and given the info on my location, they quickly found that yes, there is a problem with a rail junction just north of Warsaw Torunska.  When is the problem expected to be fixed?  To this the lady in the other end of the line had no answer.  

But it's OK, I thought.  Not always you can foresee what has to be done.  So, I only asked "Could you please contact the train crew and request that they announce the information to the passengers by this time waiting for over 30 minutes in the train without any idea, about the reason for a strange behavior of the train?"  "No, sir, I have no means to communicate with the train crew." she replied.  

Whether she was saying the truth or not, didn't matter (I'd prefer that she was wrong; it'd be really scary if the railway had no way to contact the crew).  Anyway, again, the old question came back.  Are we children on the school bus? Or adults? And in that latter case, how come informing these passengers about the state of the situation we are the center of isn't one of the priority steps to take in the somewhat unusual situation like this?
